SSTV Signal Desk and SSTV Lite process radio audio and images on device, while private iCloud sync keeps selected station data available across your Apple devices.

Summary

Receive, decode, encode, recording, and export work runs on your device. When you are signed in to iCloud, the apps use a private CloudKit database to synchronize station identity, preferences, QSO log entries, and satellite settings between SSTV Signal Desk and SSTV Lite. This private database belongs to your Apple account; it is not a public directory and is not used for advertising or tracking.

AreaUseStorage and transfer
MicrophoneLive SSTV receive and decode when you start microphone receiving.Audio is processed on device and is not uploaded by the app.
Station profile and QSO logCallsign, optional operator name, QTH or locator, reports, contact details, and notes support station operation and logging.Stored locally and synchronized through your private CloudKit database.
Preferences and satellitesInterface choices, receiver preferences, satellite favorites and reminder rules, and an optional manual observing position keep devices consistent.Stored locally and synchronized through your private CloudKit database.
Decoded imagesKeep received pictures in the archive and on your other devices.Decoded-image sync is on by default. You can turn it off in Settings; new decoded images then remain local.
Local radio filesOpen recordings, save generated audio, and maintain RX/TX archive files.Raw WAV and IQ recordings, receiver endpoints, calibration data, and window layout remain on the device unless you export or share them.
LocationCalculate satellite pass timing and direction for your observing position.Live device location is used locally. A manual observer position and location text saved in a QSO can be included in private CloudKit sync.
Installation identifierResolve edits made on different installations deterministically.A random app-generated identifier is attached to synchronized records. It is not an advertising identifier.
StoreKitPurchase, entitlement, and restore state for SSTV Lite's Permanent Full Unlock.Handled by Apple. The app reads purchase state locally; purchases and credentials are not copied into the app's CloudKit records.

Private iCloud sync

CloudKit stores synchronized records in the private database for your Apple account. Pro and Lite use the same private container so your station profile, preferences, logs, satellite choices, and enabled image assets can follow you across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The app also synchronizes deletion records to prevent a deleted item from reappearing on another device. Signing out of iCloud stops network synchronization; local receive and transmit tools remain available.

Raw WAV and IQ recordings, receiver endpoints, calibration data, permission state, purchase state, credentials, and window layout are not included in this synchronization. Apple processes private CloudKit data under the terms for your Apple account and iCloud service.

Required-reason APIs

The app privacy manifest declares Apple required-reason access for file timestamps, UserDefaults, disk space, and system uptime. File timestamps support user-selected files and local archive management. UserDefaults stores app settings. Available disk space is checked before recording or rotating local files and is displayed in storage status. System uptime is used for local decoder deadlines and timing; disk-space and system-uptime values are not sent to a server.

Public source links

Satellite and event views may link to public sources such as ARISS, AMSAT, and CelesTrak-related data. Those sources are third-party websites or services with their own privacy practices.

Support data

If you contact support, the message, email address or reply address, screenshots, recordings, device details, and any files you choose to include are used to answer that request. Support material is not required for normal app use.

Sale of personal data

We do not sell personal data, use synchronized data for advertising, or track you across apps and websites. The app privacy manifest declares tracking as false.
